Center of Excellence

The Center of Excellence is Strikers’ core developmental program to create appreciation for and higher levels of skills in the game of soccer.  We use our uniquely structured programming, “Development Defined,” to help players hone skills and reach their personal best as athletes, and in life. Boys and girls can start participating in this program beginning at age 4, based on their level of interest in the sport, commitment of participation and skill. This is a natural progression for participants moving forward from our Developmental Rec program.

Details About the Program

Beginners, ages 4 to 6:

  • In this most fun and engaging part of our program, players explore their knowledge for the game and translate it to solve scenarios often presented in a real soccer game.
  • Players learn different techniques to dribble the soccer ball and learn how to start making decisions during the game based on scenarios presented by the coach.
  • Many games are used to develop the decision-making process when defending a goal and also creating opportunities to score goals in a team environment.
  • Children are introduced to training sets and encouraged to play in small groups to maximize the number of touches on the ball per session.
  • Conditioning component is included as part of this process, using small groups.
  • The concept of “rondos” is introduced to teach how to pass the ball accurately between players.
